How my adult acne struggles inspired me on my journey for a natural and low ph balanced face soap

It doesn’t seem fair! You get older, but the acne doesn’t stop! We’re told it’s something we’ll outgrow after our teenage years, yet many of us still struggle. Along the way, we hear every piece of advice possible: avoid sugar (because it spikes cortisol!), skip greasy food, drink gallons of water, and find the most drying soap you can instead of finding a low ph balanced face soap that wouldn't have stripped my skin of its natural oils. The soap to dry out my acne was the worst advice, like ever! And led to many years of dried scabby patches on my face as I struggled to find a solution that wouldn't cost me every bit of money that I had in the bank seeing dermatologists and/or being on medication.

But for me, drying soaps made things worse. My adult acne turned out to be hormone related, and while I’ve always loved natural soaps, I realized that many lye-based bars can have a high pH balance which can be tough on sensitive or acne-prone skin.

So, what is pH balance, exactly? It’s the measure of acidity that helps protect our skin barrier. When it’s balanced, it guards against bacteria, irritation, and infection. But when it’s too high, it can lead to dryness, cystic acne, and that dreaded winter itch.

That’s why I spent months researching how to create a natural, low pH face soap that’s closer to the skin’s own balance gentle, hydrating, and still completely plant-derived. The process turned traditional soap-making on its head since it involved more steps and it by passed the lye process in traditional soap making but it worked.

The result? A soothing, organic beauty bar that supports sensitive, mature, or acne-prone skin without stripping away moisture. Because no one deserves to keep fighting breakouts as an adult. The world is pretty crazy and fighting adult acne doesn't need to be on the top of anyone's lists of things to worry about these days.
